I still don't get why anyone would NOT like the MySchool website! Isn't it a good idea for us parents to know how our school really rates? Otherwise how would we ever know? I've been sending my son to a very expensive private school, thinking that he is getting the best academic education, and his reports keep telling me that he is...but of course it does... they don't want to lose my business at $10,000 a year! I now see that it doesn't rate anywhere near as well as I've been led to believe. No wonder private school principals don't like it. |

I'm still not sure whether the My School website is a good idea or not. As a parent, I just want to have a clear indication of my child's level of understanding in direct comparison to the syllabus level expected of them. Comparing schools may have it's merits, but I believe the My School website should be giving parents more information on what they can do to help to reinforce the efforts of teachers. It is well-documented that it's a collaborative effort of home and school that makes for good results. I think the National Curriculum is long overdue and welcomed... as long as we get it right. Remember the draft is open for perusal on the ACARA website and the public is invited to comment. |
